An Adapted Custom Home
Manchester-By-The-Sea
New Construction
Cedar Hill Residential was hired to manage the construction of a single-family home in Manchester by the Sea. The project involved the tear down of an existing ranch style home and construction of a new farmhouse style home on the existing foundation.
The home, customized for the owners’ specific needs, featured a handicap accessible suite on the first floor, an open floorplan for entertaining, a 3-season porch with access to a manicured yard as well as an accessory caretakers apartment over the garage.
The fit and finish was gorgeous and included a fully custom U-shaped kitchen with center island, high end millwork and hardware throughout, beautiful character grade white oak flooring and so much more.

This project was the first time that we had built a residence specifically for someone who uses a wheelchair. From the entry ramp, to the width of hallways and doorways, to making sure everyone had easy access to the backyard, it forced us not only to think about how something will look, but how it will function. From a fit and finish standpoint, the owners very much wanted to have real wood beams in the living and dining room area and who are we to argue- wood beams look great! For a number of reasons, using a faux beam was not in the cards, so this house has genuine full sized white oak beams running across its ceiling. This was a challenge because we first had to let them sit and dry out for a long period to minimize shrinking. And then came the installation…these puppies are heavy. 5 guys and 2 rented lifts and the beams are complete.
